Ok, so I know that no one at home will understand, but I don't care. You can call me a redneck, you can say that I have totally turned into a new yorker, I don't care. I absolutely love tractor pulls. The love affair started about 6 years ago and has gradually gotten stronger as the summers have passed. I think it was this pull in 2004 at the Cobleskill fair that really put me over the edge and made me a true lover of tractor pulls.
This is actually one of my favorite tractors. It's called satisfaction, and that is what I feel every time I watch him pull. He was the leader last night and he won the class last year. Here are a few pictures from the 2004 fair where he blew up his entire motor. It was the most incredible thing I have ever seen. I didn't know an engine could just blow up like that. These guys have so much money invested in these things. This tractor has well over $150,000 invested in it, so you can imagine that this was no cheap thing to fix. Robbie and I actually went and looked at the tractor up close after the pulls. It was incredible. How can you not fall in love with something with that much power.
These are Robbie's favorites, the modified class. They are only allowed to run three engines even if they have more than that. But these big dogs will really make your seat rumble. They have some incredible power in those alcohol burning engines of theirs. What a rush.
So really what more can I say then I am a fan. If this makes me a redneck, the so be it. But I am telling you once you've experience a great tractor pull, there is just no going back.
Friday is the demolition derby which is a close second to tractor pulls and I really can't wait for all the crushing to start.
